About

Necessity is the mother of invention. Over the last year and a half alone, we have seen a tremendous boost in creativity and innovation, and at InQuest 2021, The Cathedral and John Connon School and CAJCS Full STEAM Ahead wish to harness this potential and focus it towards STEAM.

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. To truly represent a higher level of innovation in challenging times, this science fair is modelled on STEAM principles and will be judged by esteemed individuals from TIFR.

PROJECTS

THE JUDGES

Maneesha Narayan is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in materials science at TIFR, Mumbai. She grows and characterises wide bandgap semiconductors in her lab for power electronics applications. Her lab grows both bulk and 2D materials using different growth methods and a variety of growth systems. She also studies their electrical, optical and structural properties.

Tooba Khan is a research student at TIFR, Mumbai in the field of Cell & Developmental Biology and Genetics. She became interested in this field during her undergraduate education when she was exposed to the research environment and got the opportunity to understand science in a practical way. In addition, she enjoys playing sports like basketball, badminton and enjoys music, writing and cooking too.

Sunandita Paul, currently, a 5th year Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemical Sciences, TIFR, was born and brought up in a small town called Chinsurah in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Burdwan University in West Bengal and her Master’s degree in Chemistry from West Bengal State University (2016). Her area of research is elucidating reaction mechanisms in light-induced reactions through ultrafast spectroscopy.
